Preschool Homeschool Pink Unit

Holy cow.  I can't believe Porter just finished his first semester of preschool!  My baby boy!  Pink, week 9, in our 46 week preschool homeschool curriculum was loads of fun.  How fun was it?  Check out some pictures!

You can't have pink week without a troll wig!

After we check out our weekly themed shelf, we always dive right in to colouring to set the mood.

The weather this week was so wacky.  Raining, obscenely cold, sunny but still ridiculously cold.  Figure it out Toronto!  We spent the first half of the week inside because it was so darn chilly.  That gave us plenty of time to work with our new W and D playdoh mats!

Porter had fun matching the "lipsticks" to their proper lips.

I dare you to find a little one who can't resist a giant pile of (pink!) bubbles!
***Home CEO Hack*** learn from my mistake and use tear free bubble bath instead of dish soap :/

We took our D letter sound work outside with our little dinosaur to see some ducks and play with our new droid kite!

Progress!  You can't really see since Porter is using a pink coloured pencil, but he's tracing the numbers!  Tracing!  Remember my blog last week about the black unit and his "work in progress" tracing exercise?  What an improvement!  #proudmom

"I'm making sprinkles!" Porter, 2 1/2 years old.  We had fun making and decorating pink cupcakes during our art block this week.

Porter rounded out the week by counting some watermelon seeds.

I mean really, where did the time go?!?!?  Our second semester is all about shapes!  Next week will be all about circles!  Click here if you would like more information about our 46 week preschool homeschool curriculum.

Preschool Homeschool Mail Carrier Unit

Week 24 of our 30 week age 4 program taught us all about mail carriers!  Check out some photos from our week!

During our wake up, warm up language activities, we focused on listening to ending sounds and spelled CVC I words.

Kylie LOVED this game!   I think there might be a Mad Libs book in her future ;)

Kylie has been obsessed with origami since the Japan unit last year!  During our art block, we (yes, me too!) made origami heart envelopes.  I am definitely going to keep this craft in my back pocket for next Valentines Day!

Did you all see the ADORABLE mail song Home CEO Maraya wrote for this unit?  If you didn't, scroll back to my theme board picture at the top.  I found myself humming it while we did our dramatic play block!

Math + fine motor skills = a won win for this kid!

We also spent a good chunk of time this week Googling what mailboxes from around the world look like.  Holy Cow!  There are some amazing mailboxes out there!  Brazil ("That looks like a robot") and India ("That looks like a bird feeder") were our favorites.  If this unit looks like fun to you, click here to purchase from our TpT page.  If this curriculum looks like fun, click here to purchase all 30 weeks!  See you next week when we learn about fire fighters!

Preschool Homeschool Black Unit

Black, week 8 of our 45 week preschool homeschool program, was such a fun unit!  There were animals, outer space activities, and a trip to the grocery store.  What's not to love?!?
Check out some photos from black week!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
Did you know that most of our printables are available in black and white and colour?  I thought those adult colouring books were pretty crazy when they came out a few years ago.  "I'm 30.  Why in the world would I want to colour?"  I said to myself.  I totally get it now.  Adult colouring is amazing!  Save yourself some ink and print in black and white and colour your own worksheets!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
Is anyone else as obsessed with Toob figures as I am?!?!?

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
These play-doh mats keep getting more fun!  This week gave us a make a selfie and build a spider!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
We are taking a less is more approach to our theme boards.  By that I mean, less for me to clean up when Porter tears them off and more time for play-doh mats!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
As we were going through each card and figure, reciting the word, Porter paused at the hand card and said "That's a high five."  I can't fault you there buddy!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
Number mazes are a house favourite!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
We reviewed our food flash cards this week.  We went to our local grocery store and matched our cards to the real products!

Arts and crafts block was a free form night time sky picture.  Cut out your own stars and moon or use our templates!

Porter was 3 for 4 on this size discrimination worksheet!

Lets just say tracing isn't Porter's strong suit...

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Preschool-Age-2-3-Week-8-Black-3055871
Porter wasn't really interested in this animal track matching exercise, but Kylie loved it!  I added some Toob animals to make it a bit more fun!

Some other highlights of black week included reading Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? 384 times, not buying blackberries because they were crazy expensive, purring like a cat every time we saw one.  It is never too late to start your preschool at home journey!  Click here to find out more about our 45 week program for 2-3 year olds!

Dentist Unit

Marshmallows, hard boiled eggs, and E words...oh my!  Dentist week is week 23 of our 30 week curriculum package geared towards 4 year olds.  Check out some of the highlights of our week learning about dentists!

Kylie proudly announced, to anyone willing to listen, that she had 20 teeth and that they will all fall out one day!

One of our wake up, warm up math activities had Kylie practicing skip counting by 10s.
***Home CEO Hack***  Do you have any old socks laying around?  Cut out these mouths and make sock puppets!

This week in The Keys To Reading Town, we focused on CVC words that had an E in the middle.

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Dentist-Week-23-Age-4-Preschool-Homeschool-Curriculum-by-Home-CEO-2566115
Our art project this week was an exercise in self control.  Kylie loves marshmallow.  I had a bowl waiting for her at the other end of the table if she could complete project without eating any of the "art pieces."  She pretended to eat every other marshmallow right before she dabbed glue on it, but did not actually eat any, so she won a bowl of her own marshmallows!

Kylie has been feeling a little left out in the play dough mat department, so she was very excited when I pulled this our!

"I like doing these math sentences." -My almost 5 year old daughter.

I liked this science experiment for 3 reason:
1) I crave a Coke about once every 4 months for no particular reason.  I buy a Coke, drink half of it and then remember I really don't like soda and pour it down the drain.  And then the cycle repeats about 4 months later.  This science experiment fell on my mysterious Coke craving! So I got to drink my half a bottle of soda and soak the egg in the rest.
2) I've been meaning to hard boil some eggs for a quick lunch.
3) Kylie's "focusing" face is so darn cute!
So did the toothpaste take off the soda stains?  You'll have to do it yourself and find out ;)

I can't believe I am going to have a preschool homeschool graduate in 7 weeks!  Where did the time go???  Click here if you want to find out more about our 30 week preschool homeschool curriculum package.

St. Patrick's Day Unit

I have fond memories of St. Patrick's Day.  Though my family is from New Hampshire, without a drop of Irish blood in our veins, I loved the stories, crafts, and leprechaun hunts that always came around in March.  This unit is part of our full year curriculum bundle which is available here, but it is also available as a stand alone unit here.

We began our week with an introduction to clovers, coins, rainbows, and the Irish flag by way of a pattern making game!

I'm going to be real with you here.  I hate sweeping and I'm a bit of a penny pincher when it comes to food.  Why should I color oats if that could be a perfectly good breakfast tomorrow.  Well, this week has changed me.  I will gladly sweep up after seeing this little guy smiling and contently playing for over an hour (!!!!!!) while I folded laundry, washed the dishes, and made lunch.  Check out our facebook page for a quick how-to video on this.

This little guy is getting so stinkin' smart!

Porter wasn't exactly into the clip cards this week, but he did enjoy tracing all of the numbers.  That counts for something, right?

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
He asked to go to the library every day this week!

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
"Mommy, that tickles," Porter said as I painted his hand.  I am such a sucker for hand print art!

This week was so darn fun!  And these pictures aren't even half of it!  Check out our TpT page if you would like to purchase this lesson a la carte, or check out our website for more information on our full year program.

Preschool Homeschool Brown Unit

"Rey has brown hair and she is very cool.  Nutella is also brown and delicious.  I think Porter will have fun with his brown week.  <---Direct quote from my almost 5 year old when she saw Porter's brown shelf.  You can't argue with logic like that!

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
Humble brag, but I think this is my best manipulative shelf yet!

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
Porter was all about the letter sounds tubs this week.  Remember everyone; progress over perfection!  Porter has not been into the letter sound tub the last few weeks, so I haven't been forcing the issue.  This week, he saw me cutting them up and said "Oh! Lemon!" So I dropped the scissors and started playing since he became suddenly engaged.

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
We went on a scavenger hunt in the back yard to make our brown sensory bin.

We <3 Eric Carle in this house.  Check out our Facebook page for a super cute (I'm his mom, I'm allowed to be biased!) of Porter "reading" Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

We are on a big colouring kick right now!

I dare you to find me a child that can resist a game with a spinner.  I dare you!  Our new lapbook was a hit.

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
 A household favorite activity!
**Home CEO Hack** Once your little one is done with colouring in the 7s, ask them to colour all the 6s a different colour!  This is a great chance to review numbers and colour recognition!

This young man insisted on green antlers for our moose puppet.

https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
Little one can't circle things yet?  Have your little one get pom poms, buttons, or fishy crackers to cover the correct number!

Well, I think my daughter was right, Porter and I did have a lot of fun with brown week.  To those of you saying "These tot schooling activities look amazing, where can I get there?" The answer is here.  Brown week is part of our 45 week preschool homeschool curriculum.   See you all next week when learn about Saint Patrick's Day!

"Brown rhymes with down, clown, and zown.  Just kidding, I made up the last word." <--- Another quote from my almost 5 year old.
