We are 2/3 of the way through our preschool homeschool curriculum for 4 year olds! Week 20, River and Pond Life was lots of fun and filled with many animal friends that we are already familiar with.  Is this your first time to our blog and you want to see what all the fuss is about?  Check out our 30 week curriculum pack here.  On to the photos!

This fun letter sorting activity needed to be moved to the living room floor!  Kylie had lots of fun putting the alphabet back in order.

Kylie and Porter both made ducks during their art blocks this week.  Unless you are artistically inclined, I highly recommend printing out the art templates.  #lessonlearned

Yellow!  After mama and dada, yellow was the first "real" word Porter could say.

Theme board time!

Crack!  We had so much fun 'cracking' the yolks and 'popping' the corn on our newest playdoh mats.  Check out Life On A Dime's blog for a great homemade play dough recipe here.

We love clip cards in this house.  Sometimes we clip them.  Sometimes we put pompoms down.  Or in this case, a game token from Sequence Junior.

I love, love, LOVE these nylon knives from Curious Chef.  Kylie has been using them for a few years now and now it is Porter's turn to join in on the kitchen fun!  These knives are serrated,  but dull.  They are PERFECT for teaching early knife skills and cutting soft fruit or steamed veggies.

"Oh!  Numbers!" Porter always yells when he sees this sheet.

We practiced recognizing S and R words this week.

Puzzles, puzzles, and more puzzles!  He loved the crayon and bus puzzle this week.

Quack, quack! This fluffy yellow chick joined our family this week.  Did anyone try out the scissor exercise with craft?  Porter was not interested, but we have 42 more weeks to try!

Progress!  Full disclosure though, the sunflower line is the only line he made on this worksheet.  But progress all the same!

There you have it- yellow week!  I also tried to incorporate "yellow" music this week.  We listened to Coldplay, The Beattles, and Elton John.  Porter couldn't have cared less, but I enjoyed it!  Next week is a planning week, so we won't have any "formal" lessons.  But for those that want to keep the ball rolling, there will be penguins mini lesson in your library soon.  It's never too late to start your own homeschool preschool journey!  Check out our program here

Preschool Homeschool Arctic Life Unit

I got so excited when I checked my calendar and realized we would be living in Toronto when it came time to do the Arctic life unit.  I imagined we would build an igloo in our yard, we would walk around and look for animal prints in the snow, and we would sip hot cocoa under a blanket while we watched a nature documentary about polar bears.  None of that happened :( The snow has melted, it rained, and Kylie doesn't like hot drinks.  But check out some pictures of from our classroom this week!

One of our math wake up, warm up activities had us adding up puffins to put them in the correct houses.
***Home CEO Hack*** This is a recurring wake up, warm up game.  Print the houses off once and then use them through out the semester!

This was an encouragement elves week! During 2 of our math blocks this week, we made clothespin magnets to give to some of our friends as a way to say, "Thanks for doing what you are doing." #everythingisbetterwithglitter

I officially am in love with the Toronto Public Library system.  I can return books to any of the 100 libraries in the city.  I can place holds from the comfort of my own home.  And I just learned that some books are available as an e-reader download...on my own Ipad!

I really thought Kylie would enjoy this hand print narwhal art project, but all she could do was grimace at me and say, "Can I go wash my hand now?"

Our semester long language activity "The Legend  Of The Lost Words" is almost done.  This week, we worked on _un and _ug words.

Kylie doesn't even need me to read the instructions on this sheet anymore!

We wrapped up our arctic week by learning about penguins!

I hope you enjoyed a little peak into our homeschool classroom this week as we learned about Arctic Life.  Arctic Life is week 19 in our 30 week preschool program geared towards 4 year olds.  This unit can be purchased individually here or as part of the bundle here.  Join us week when we explore River and Pond Life.

Preschool Homeschool Blue Unit

Welcome to week 2 of Home CEO's preschool homeschool for 2 and 3 year olds!
We learned all about the color blue this week.  Our 2-3 year old program is broken down into 4 quarters that are 9 weeks each, with 9 holiday/special occasion units mixed in.  During the first quarter, we will be learning all about colors.  Want to join us?  Click here and find out more.

First things first!  We always start our week off by coloring and building our theme board.  These coloring pages can be added to your theme board (like I did) or added to your little one's art book.

Books, books, books!  I love that my kids love books so much!  Between both children, I think we have read Blue hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boyton a bazillion times.  Mix It Up by Herve Tullet, was an accidental gem I found at the library.  The kids loved it so much that we went out and bought our own copy!

I asked Porter what he was doing in this picture and he simply replied, "Making blue art."  The blue unit has print outs you can use to make a collage, or just use what you have around the house!

I totally forgot to make a manipulatives shelf for the red unit.  I know, I know, #momfail.  Porter loved it!

A and T were our focus letters this week with our letter sound tubs.

Sometimes this kids can be so serious.

But most of the time he is not!  We worked on our ten frames flash cards all week and this kids is a pro.

Porter loves playing in water, but I don't like cleaning up after it.  Since it is January in Toronto and I can't find his swim suit, we improvised with the blue week's sensory tub. I laid a blue sheet on the floor and he went to town with his boat and sea creatures!
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
We "popped" so many blue bubbles this week with our playdough mat.
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
The flash cards reappeared to help us count bubbles!
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
Porter also added a few new pages to his math notebook.
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
We took a stab at the Montessori exercises this week and they were a hit!
I hope you enjoyed quick peak into our homeschool classroom.  You can find out more about our program by clicking here.  See you next week when we learn all about yellow!

Preschool Homeschool Red Unit

Some call it tot school.  Some call it mommy or daddy and me.  I call it loads of fun!  Porter (a little over 2 years old) and I started our 2-3 year old preschool homeschool curriculum this past week and we both loved it!   This program is broken down into 4 quarters and for the first 9 weeks of the year, we will learn about colors.  Check out some highlights from our  red week!

This little guy has been watching his sister build theme boards for almost a year now and he was so happy to finally get his own!  These coloring pages can be added to your interactive notebook afterwards.

We snacked on lots of red things this week.   Raspberries, apple, beet, and carrot juice, and red peppers!
**Home CEO Hack** Do you have a picky eater?  Don't give up! Try presenting new foods in different ways.  Your little lady won't eat avocado?  Toss some in her next smoothie!  Your little dude won't eat white beans?  Puree them and mix it in with mashed potatoes!  And if all else fails, just call it something similar that they do it :)  ...Carrots were called sweet potato circles for a few months in our house
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
We had a blast with out Montessori letter sound tub.  Feel free to add any household items that your little one is familiar with too!
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
I guess its good to know Porter has 44 more weeks to practice his tracing skills!
https://www.homeceoacademy.com/store/PBqS46Po
Both of my children (and I too!) love Eric Carle books.  We read The Grouchy Ladybug and then made a ladybug of our own.

Porter has watched Kylie do hundreds of mazes like this.  All I had to do was tell him to color in the 1's and he went to town!

Color sorting!  We did this one every day this week; mixing it up with some small figures and legos!

I believe there is a old proverb that says "teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. But give a little boy a glue stick, and you will be able to enjoy your coffee while its still warm."
Goodbye red week!  We had a lot of fun!  Do you want to join in on the fun?  Click here to purchase!  Come back next week and see everything we do with our second week color...blue!
